How to use it
- Show your United Healthcare ID card, which includes your prescription drug coverage, when you fill a prescription (coverage information is also in the Rightway app).
- Use the Rightway app to message the pharmacy team, pull up your digital ID card, and check your prescription history.
- Call if you’re stuck. The pharmacy team is available 24/7.

Note: “Retail” usually means a standard fill at a participating pharmacy (often up to a 30-day supply). “Mail order” is usually a longer fill (often up to a 90-day supply). Specialty meds can come with extra rules; Rightway can walk you through it.
Copays and coinsurance vary by medical plan and medication type (generic, preferred brand, non-preferred brand, specialty). Check your plan materials for the most accurate cost details.
For conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc., that require daily or ongoing treatment with maintenance medications, an initial 34-day supply will be allowed at retail before you are required to receive a 90-day supply at retail or mail. The 90-day supply copayment is designed to save you money by charging the equivalent of only two copays instead of three.

Can I keep my usual pharmacy?
Possibly. Rightway has a large national network (most major chains and lots of independents). If anything changes with your current pharmacy, Rightway will flag it and help you transfer your prescriptions. However, you may save money by using a Rightway network pharmacy, such as Walgreens.
Get delivery instead
If you take ongoing (maintenance) meds, you may be able to get them delivered through Walgreens Mail Service.
- Online: Register at WalgreensMailService.com and follow the prompts.
- Phone: Call (888) 273-6100 and ask to be registered for Walgreens Mail Service.
- Mail: Send the completed registration form and original prescription to Walgreen Mail Service, P.O. Box 29061, Phoenix, AZ 85038.
Pro tip: If your doctor can e-prescribe, do it. It’s usually the quickest way to get the ball rolling.
Specialty meds
If you’re on a specialty medication, you’re not on your own. Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy has a care team that can help with delivery, authorizations, side effects, and (when available) ways to lower your out-of-pocket cost.
- Call Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy at (866) 249-5367 to enroll.
- Have your doctor send your specialty prescription via e-prescribe.
- Opt in through your onboarding text so that you can track your prescription.
Prior authorization may be required
Some meds need a green light (a.k.a. prior authorization) before they’re covered. Your doctor sends in the request, and Rightway can help keep things moving if it gets stuck.
Switching over to Rightway?
Keep an eye on your mailbox for your UHC medical plan card, which will include Rightway prescription coverage information.
If anything about your medication coverage changes, you’ll get a letter with your options, and Rightway can help you switch to a covered alternative (if that’s the right move). If you need to change mail-order or specialty pharmacies, you’ll get instructions and support to transfer your prescriptions.
